The island of Egilsay marks the place where Magnus was martyred. Our theme is Peace - thinking about the sacrifice Magnus made for the sake of peace in Orkney and our present need for peace in the midst of conflict.

The route is short and easy in comparison to the other sections, linking the pier with the community centre, and the three key historical sites of the Magnus memorial, beach and St Magnus Kirk. You can download a detailed route description and gpx file for use with mapping software.

Getting to and from Egilsay takes most of a day - Orkney Ferries run a service departing three times a day from Tingwall, via Rousay to Egilsay. The lunchtime boat is a request service, which needs booked the day before by phoning TIngwall on +44 (0)1856 751360. The pilgrimage route is easily done in a morning or afternoon and you can choose to also visit the RSPB reserve or spend a half day in Rousay as well.
